Leadership 1000 Scholarship Program
The Leadership 1000 Scholarship Program is a scholarship program funded by individuals, foundations, or businesses and provides four-year scholarships to deserving students who need assistance attending any college in Washington State. A Leadership 1000 Scholarship can be around a general set of requirements requested by the donor. Scholarships are provided by benefactors who promise to give $5000 per year for each of four years.
Several businesses offer unique scholarship opportunities through the Leadership 1000 program. To learn more about the application process and eligibility criteria, click .
The Leadership 1000 Scholarship Program also provides a summer program for the selected scholarship participants.

Leadership 1000 Scholarship
Donors can put scholarships in their family name or company name to recognize their contribution and if they wish, get to know their student. The program is flexible so that benefactors may establish specific parameters around a type of student, such as those attending a particular high school or college or pursuing a specific area of study.
Administration costs are grant-funded, so 100% of the donor’s contribution goes directly to pay for the scholarship. Donations are used as last-In funding that fills in the gaps and makes it possible for students in need to attend college.

Summer Program
Leadership 1000 Scholars spent an orientation weekend at IslandWood on Bainbridge Island in August 2009 to get to know one another, meet CSF staff, learn the scholarship guidelines, and meet with their donors – many for the very first time. IslandWood was patterned after other CSF-sponsored summer college orientation sessions, such as CSF’s Achievers College Experience (ACE) for Achievers Scholars and Make It Happen! for foster youth. CSF provides opportunities for CSF Scholars to bond and develop a sense of community while learning the basics of college-going and financial aid.
