Achievers Scholarship Program

The Achievers Scholarship Program is a non-traditional, multifaceted scholarship program that supports students from 16 high schools in Washington State with high percentages of low-income students. It is funded by a grant from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. The last cohort of applicants has been selected and will enter an eligible Washington State college in 2010. Achievers Scholars receive support services while in high school, in addition to being assigned a mentor in high school as well as a college mentor.

The Achievers Scholarship Program was generously funded in 2001 by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. At its conclusion it will have provided college readiness, mentoring and support, as well as scholarship financial aid for four years, to 5000 low-income youth in the state of Washington. The same Achievers Scholarship Program also operates in Washington, D.C. through the DC College Success Foundation.

Although the Achievers Scholarship is ending in the Achievers high schools in 2010, CSF will offer a similar model of early college readiness programs and College Advising and Mentoring in seven selected schools, beginning in 2010.
